The Irish Honey Bee

At Heather Hill apiary we only keep the Irish dark honey bee (Apis mellifera mellifera). It thrives on our native tree and flower species. Our bees play a massive roll in regenerating the ecosystems by helping the plants and trees with pollination. We are proud members of NIHBS-The Native Irish Honey Bee Society and FIBKA-The Federation of Irish Beekeepers' Associations through our local South Donegal Beekeepers Association.
